Hypothetical’s

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

So my Dad asked me an interesting question when I went over to have lunch with he and my Mom on Friday.  He asked me what region I would like to live in if the US were to break up into 6 or so smaller countries.  My immediate response was Texas.  After further thinking about it, I don’t think I’d rally mind most of them, the only two I think I’d really not like living in would be the southwest or the northeast.  So, if the country were to break up into 6 smaller countries (by regions, northwest, mid-west, northeast, southeast, south, southwest), where would you want to live?  My other immediate response was that it would be a great idea for it to break up.  I just think at this point the federal government has become too huge and monolithic for anything short of a revolution to make things better.

This is just scary

The numbers are not adjusted for inflation, but with that kind of scale change it doesn’t make much difference.  I’m no economist, but I don’t think that the Fed has helped the situation much.  I just can’t see what the benefit of a fiat currency is to the people (plenty of benefits to the government).
