Put some English on gun control efforts

As horrifying and sad as what happened in Blacksburg is, its the tip of the iceberg in gun violence. Nearly 30,000 Americans die because of guns every year in suicides, homicides and unintentional shootings, according to the Violence Policy Center.

Last week, gun rights advocates were all over the news media repeating the refrain that the problem isnt the weapons but the few people misusing them.o

This kind of rhetoric really ticks me off.  Every loss of life is a tragedy, but let’s put this one into a little perspective, and realize that the author has an agenda to push.   Deaths from automobile accidents in the U.S. have been reaching between 40,000 and 45,000 in the past several years, but do we hear anyone calling for automobile control?  Do you hear anyone calling for the regulation of automobiles, or for doing background checks on people purchasing automobiles?  No, you don’t have to have anything in order to purchase an automobile.  Lets push to save a few more lives, lets ban automobiles.
