The Senate has by a 50-49 vote allowed a provision to remain in the Immigration Bill allowing illegal aliens to claim Social Security benefits. There is no way to sugar-coat what a disaster this is for Republicans and for the country.
This is just absolutely insane. Of course, the entire social security program is insane, so why should this one more bit bother us. Here’s your list on who voted to table (kill) the Ensign amendment that would have taken this mess out of the bill.
